Does anyone know if there is an S.B.
for B747 fuel tank wiring ?
There is a thread about conclusions from
the 800 flight incident....& possible wiring damage in service ?
I heard there is an S.B. to install new
fuel tank sesnor wiring to remove any
possibility of this occuring ?
I'm not a sparky myself, so I don't know ?

Try a search on boeing service bulletins using google.com (http://google.com) there's reference to one there with the title b-29.boeing.com/news/releases/1998/news_release_98. I tried to post a direct link but it got rejected????
However the detail is there to read.

Thanks guys,

I'm not a journo, honest, (I hate em')

I will be going on a long haul 747-200 flight
soon, so self preservation is my only interest !!!!

I'm a mech'y type myself, with a smattering
of leccy stuff... just keep the +ve & -ve apart, that sort of thing !!!

keep smiling,

Don't believe it was wiring, but the booster pumps themselves that had to be checked, either rejected and replaced or ok to continue. Haven't got the details to hand, but for a while under certain circumstances ctr and/or stab tanks couldn't be used.

Sorry Old Timer, but journos do hang around these forums.
Anyway TWA800 is not the only centre tank explosion theory. The PAL 737-300 has never been fully explained.
When you fly don't sit over the centre tank ,the front or the back!

Boost pumps were checked for insulation damage/breakdown per Airworthiness Directive.

I'll stick to my 2024-T3 & 7075-T6 bits !!!
