Yesterday was one of the hottest days on record in Dubai as burning winds blew in from the Empty Quarter and set the mercury soaring..........At Dubai International Airport, a temperature of 47.3C was recorded by meteorologists the same peak temperature as was seen on August 1.

Yes, noticed that even when I left the office last night (fairly late, around 8pm) and the AC in my car was totally ineffective.
It's pretty hot today too.

Tonight at 2215 GMT Doha is 90F with 94% humidity thus making it feel like 114F.

One of the hottest days on record???? I'm sure I've seen lots of days hotter than that. Also the last few days the dew point has been low so it hasn't been that uncomfortable. All in all this summer has seemed pretty mild to me.

Superlative air conditioning at most hotels and restaurants. Life is good as long as the electrical power grid doesn't go on vacation. :ooh:

Agree ref KWI - when we have an aircraft restricted to max OAT of 50 deg C, it's a bit restrictive. Flew a "patrol" over the city the other night - at 2100-local the OAT on the deck was 37, but at 1000 feet it was 47. No aircon when we're using the camera or FLIR, which makes life fun.
Used to operate AB205s in Oman. On the border, where we'd spend a fortnight flying up and down helping those poor Saudi-based oil companies back to their own side of the line after friendly discussions about navigational difficulties, the OAT was usually around 55 in the shade. Between sorties, we once put a min-max thermometer under my flying helmet and left them on the cockpit seat. Temperature mid-afternoon inside the bonedome reached 88 deg C.
