Anyone know anything about future plans for BA longhaul at LGW? Have heard wild rumours that it might all wrap up for mainline leaving franchise to enter longhaul market. Can anyone comment on loads on the BA flights - would have thought it was quite profitable there! :ok:

If LGW longhaul goes Franchise I predict a strike of greater severity than the one we have just enjoyed, albeit a legal one with BALPA in the lead.

How about another rumour?

BA are going to withdraw the pilot's "bidline" roster system unilaterally and are plannning contingencies against any union backlash. Expect large number of the current company council to receive their P45's when the fun starts.

There is only one way this is going - 900 hours per year per pilot on a company rostered basis with the Final Salary Scheme withdrawn within three years to boot. Get ready - all these things will come to pass and more and there is nothing anyone is willing or, in the long term , able to do about it.

Fred - as for the latest pension scheme for new joiners - is the union attempting to get better deal? heard it was pretty dire.
Was also under impression that unions in Big Airways were quite strong so would be surprised if noone did anything re the loss of bidline.

If Bidline goes, I think the chances of a strike are likely to be greater than if LGW longhaul is franchised. ;)
