Anybody know what the legal minimum fuel on arrival is for a 747-300? Had one last week indicated fuel 3140kg, magnastix showed 2190kg...

Our min for arrival on a -400 is 4,500 kg, if below that an internal safety report must be raised. Not sure what our figures are for classic's but will investigate. I must admit that 3200kg is low, 2200kg bloody low!

If the 4.5K was distributed evenly say 1.1ish in each tank, there is insufficient fuel for hydraulic cooling in ALL 4 tanks, sounds a bit low to me. Does it ever happen?

Spanners as you are correct in saying this is below the limits for hyd pump ops (the figures I have are tanks 1 & 4 900kg & tanks 2 & 3 2450kg minimum). And in answer to your question, no I have not seen this (thats left to a certain Asian airline).

On a -300 4000kgs is about 15 min of flying time. CAA want to know about anything less than 8000kgs to follow it up. I recently sent an email to the AAIB which was forwarded on and followed up in 2 days. There was a severe lack of managment interest in my office but to hell with him!!!
