The Scene: The sun shining, the grass beautifully manicured, a hushed, expectant crowd silently questioning whether this could be the moment of a Champion.
The Whispering Commentator: "So finally the moment we've all been waiting for as the first group approaches the tee. As is customary, the man responsible for this auspicious gathering of players from all corners of the world, John Tilley, purposefully strides to the tee................A nod of acknowledgment to the crowd before he stands over the ball....... As we have come to expect; the perfect swing and once again Tilley caresses the ball, straight as usual and it must be at least 310 metres down the fairway...........
Yeah okay, wake up you lot. We know that's not going to happen.
But what will be happening in just 6 weeks is a group of Tilley and Smithy's old slaves and a few hangers on who fancy themselves as a chance to take home the coveted Tillair/Chartair Golf Classic Trophy, will be about to tee off in the latest incarnation of this grand event, the
Tillair Chartair Golf Classic
It's now just 6 weeks until the Tillair/Chartair Golf Classic 2005. Play starts at 9:30 at Noosa Tewantin Golf Club
Hopefully your bids and bribes are already in or you've simply rostered yourself off.
If you haven't bid yet its on:
Friday 23rd September
As is customary, festivities will start on the preceding Thursday and the plan is to help Dave Barclay overcome his grief at notching a half century on the Saturday.
If you are one of those Qantas Long Haul types the Golf is on day 19 of Bid Period 240; bids close 22nd August.
It would be great to see as many as possible up at Noosa.
If you can make it let me or Dave know:
