View Full Version : JQ - staff before customers?

JQ377 delayed out of NTL last night to dead-head late arriving crew back to MEL.

JQ STILL closed check-in 30mins prior to the scheduled dep - we'll delay you home to help our staff but we won't help you out if you're running late.

My first experience of the orange-mob and I wasn't impressed.

Unfortunately, little choice for anyone wanting to work a full day and get back to MEL that evening.

Reason for posting this: am likely to be catching this flight regularly over next month or so - anyone know if this is a regular occurence for this particular flight?

Hi Beachwave,

Realise that MEL crew work this flight - we were delayed to allow 2nd flight crew to board and fly as pax (cc had been good enough to block exit row seats for the delayed crew to sit in - nice to know there are some cabin perks for staff even on lccs!!).

At least JQ were honest enough to announce the real reason in the portaloo that passes as a Terminal at NTL at the mo.

Where have you all been living?

Many Australian airlines delay schedule flights for tech crew... even when they're not dead heading. What's more - they expect it.

Yes, I've got an axe to grind... TN wouldn't do it for me!!!!

Maybe the said tech crew were going to operate another flight out of MEL? This would have caused more problems if the said flight didn’t wait for them. Who knows? It is all speculation. They obviously had a very good reason.

If the crew get caught saving seat regardless or pax or staff they get in serious trouble. Believe me I know.

it must have been important for them to wait for an FO, otherwsise they could have just used a Capt.

Topperharley,

Pay an extra $30 for the Dash - please!!! Gimme, gimme, gimme. Cheapest currently available seat on next Thursday's dash is $511 - somehow I don't think I'll be able to sell that one to my accounts dept, regardless of the amount of beer I drink.

404 Titan,

Maybe said Tech crew were going to operate another repos flight ex Mel, because at that time of night there certainly aint other sched departs.

Yes, I realise that these things happen, the issue here is that the LCCs want things all their own way. They know that the flight will be delayed because of awaiting the late arriving inbound - but they still sting the pax who are 1min over checking in 30min pre sched departure (and no, I wasn't one of them).

At least last night's flight was on time...so I can breathe easier about next week's Friday night JQ adventure.
