Continuous ignition

Great one mate! I shall have that one printed and framed, but it is with pathos that I note that the author has also been forgotten. So much done in the field of aviation, but how many are remembered, not least the bean counters who decimate then dissapear.

Nice one C.I.
Now that we've got a poetry corner here's another. Written by someone who was in aviation all his working life. Sadly now passed away,no doubt fixing wings elsewhere.!! :)

A New Sound In The Sky.

I looked towards the heavens
One clear bright summer morn.
A new sound had caressed my ears
Midst the smell of new mown corn.

Does that sound like proppellors
Mingled with the whine of jet?
What is this thing called 'Viscount'
It isn't common yet.

But soon the world will here it
And marvel at it's sound
A British winner's in the air
Two miles above the ground.

And then I cast my mind back
To apprentice years before
When I was just a minion
On a Rolls Royce workshop floor.

That sound was not so new to me
And I'd listened in disbelief
When told it was a 'propjet'
I thought - another tease - good grief!

The wartime strife and hardships
Had not curtailed our brains
Old Britain's still fighting
In spite of previous pains.
