Hi all

I have failed the SIA interview and I am thinking of taking the CPL myself. Any good flying school to recommend? meaning recognised by CAAS so that it will save me the trouble to do a re-test to get a CAAS rating to fly in spore?

I know the course fees is huge... I am not rich n i do not have the money to do it now but will think of all ways to fulfil my dream of becoming a pilot.... So if you guys heard of anyone robbing a bank in spore, probably its me! hehe :P just kidding....

I also know that it doesnt gurantee SIA will take me in too after my CPL... but i m a gambler... i will still try if i can.... :)

Any recommendation?

hi, if you want it cheap, you can do your PPL in malaysia, then go aus or nz for the CPL. but you still have to convert you lic after come back to singapore, or you may try singapore flyinng college, i heard there's some private students.

Hii there,

You can visit http://www.sfcpl.com

I think SFC is starting to recruit private candidates... some of the airforce retirees are taking the ATPL at their own cost.. But they had been guaranteed a place in SQ once they complete... But there's no guarantee for ab-initio private students... And the fee is not cheap....

Furthermore, even if you manage to get a frozen ATPL, if there's no airline willing to give you a type rating.. the ATPL can be deemed worthless...

Don't give up my friend, apply to SIA again and do more read-ups before the interview.. I trust you can make it with your passion and will-power...

Just my 2cents worth.. hope it helps.. =)

Hel|, I was born in Switzerland and sponsored myself to get all my ratings in the States, worked almost 5 years as an instructor there getting 4000+ hours into my logbook, and am flying a jet now in Malaysia.

Don't give up, my friend. It can be done.

hands,

From what i've read on this forum, CAAS recognizes and converts licences upto the CPL level (to a spore CPL) from Massey Univ (New Zealand) and the Oxford Air Training School (U.K)
cheers,

Thanks for all the suggestions bro.......

I cant apply SIA again because I din get thru the final interview (tea party), so I am "blacklisted", they wont entertain my application anymore... Which is why I am trying to do it myself...

The interest is there... the will is there... the determination is also there.... but $ is not there.... i duno wats the exact figure but i guess it will not be cheap too...abt 200k? if i can loan from bank then mayb still possible...

I emailed CTC aviation but they say i don hold an EU passport, they cant take me in bcos they need me to fly unrestricted there. I am a sporean holding spore passport... so i cant.

anyway, will still continue to check out and pursue my dream... until its not possible... meaning too old or died!:P
