Should regional service be treated as essential services and subsidized by both federal and state governments?
The other question is would towns like Cootamudra, Cowra, West Wylong, etc want an air service to return?

In my opinion air services to regional communities should be treated as “Essential services” in the same way that telecommunications and roads are. Telstra is made to operate non profitable services to the bush, maybe the governments profit from QF and telstra etc could be used to subsidise smaller operators.

regional services are just not for pax, as im sure most here would know, mail, goods, essential medicines, etc etc,

i ahve always been of the position that Air services in any country should be treated as an infrastructure item...

The Russians tried that. It was a disaster.

We pretend we have fair competition. but our regulating bodies seem to favour a hybrid system.

We have protection, grants, subsidies, exceptions, concessions dispensations, selective regulation and a very unpredictable future.

And a financial climate that is only favourable for tax dodgers.
