Hi guys , how many of you out there have a problem with the easy plan that even though you are on a part time contract , you should have to re apply to go part time after your airbus consolidation !

Mrs Glum

There has been some concern among easyJet managers that pilots on part-time contracts will not be as 'sharp' as they should be due to lack of practice! To that end they have built into the contract the facility to get you back full-time if you start messing up. It is no more sinister than that as far as I can see.

Other companies (GB Airways is one but I am sure there are others) offer much better part-time deals involving a 'job-share' scheme. Basically, you do a full roster but shared between 2 pilots with one pilot always doing the first half of the month and the other always doing the second half. Even then they usually demand that after a type change (such as 737 to Airbus) you must work full time for 6 months to 'get your eye in'. Hope that helps.

Very helpfull thank you norman ! I think the same happened with GO . ie share a full time roster . So could not be maxed out in ten days ! Were you there ? Think I recognise your user name ?

Hi guys,

Sorry to quickly check this here but I have not been able to find it anywhere as of yet. I know we have a minimum days off a year (full-time) but do we also have a minimum days off per month??

My roster this month (Full-time, partly my standby month) is showing:

5 early's 2 off, 4 early's 2off, 2 early's 2 off, 4 lates 2 off, 5 lates 2 off, 1 on (end of month). This leaves me with 10 days off as normally i tend to have something like 11/12? Nowhere this month I have somewhere more than 2 days off in a row.
I know that stby-month is variable messing around but is this allowed??

Thanks in advance

:D

Basic T,

My roster is similar to yours this month. Starting the usual pattern then going into my reserve period. No more than 2 days off in a row with 11 days off total. Got called from my only STBY of the month (reserve period!) this morning...leaving me with 107 hours on my roster.

Isn't the new pattern bliss :{ ... but thats another thread!

JT8,

I don't mind the variable rostering so much but I thought that we would always have a minimum amount of days off per month and that even in your stby-period you wouldn't work 5/2, 4/2, 2/2. 4/2, 5/2!

Welcome to the wonderful world of variable rostering guys, in a previous Company I used to work that way all the time. At least now we know when our days off will be right through to next spring, in general, and why 5-2-5-4 suits me personally!!!

If only we could negotiate away the reserve period, if we had enough clout and enough crew to fly the programme properly!!

'Fingers' and 'dikes' ( no, not that sort Flaps One!!) springs to mind.

P.S. and yes you do have the legal numbers of days of in the short term on your roster.

KrisX,

Thanks for the answer. I know the reserve period is a bit of a pain but compared with the variable that I had at my previous comp it is better as I know at least that I will feel **** on march 12th 2006 as the schedule already tells me I will then be on my 5th early! ;)
