Comparative Noise Levels

Greetings to the rotorheads of this world.

I need to do a presentation to local government about the feasability of establishing a helistop within a municipal area.

Does anybody have the data on noiselevels from different helo's in their different classes. Example AS350,EC130,A119&B407 as a similar category/class. If possible relating to ICAO and GCNP threshholds in overflight, landing & T/O.

Your info/help eagerly awaited!

I seem to remember either Vertiflite (http://vtol.org/vertiflite/) or The Journal of the American Helicopter Society (http://vtol.org/journal/) carrying a comprehensive feature on comparative helicopter noise levels about 3 or 4 years ago. You might want to try contacting the American Helicopter Society's publications team - I'm sure they'll know which back issue you need.

Private message me..we got our inner city heliport aprroved in Newcastle , Australia for all types and i have a document thick of noise testing for our pad from an r22 right upto and chinook / blackhawk/ sky crane....with all noise signatures data etc...i may have to fax it to you but you will get an idea anyway!!

we regularly opperate...R44..B206..B407..AS355/350..A109../S76 ETC from our pad which is in the CBD no problems at all.. ihave all the figures...let me know and i would be pleased to help you

I'm looking for any charts or information,that show the comparison between take off,in flight and approach?
mainly the good ol Hughes 500's:ok: and the AS350.:eek:
Any help would be greatly appreciated.:D This is for a heliport proposal not against anyone!!

I have a 16 page pdf document on my computer, got it on the net some time ago (don't know from where). It is titled 'Noise Levels according to ICAO Annex 16 Vil 1 Chapter 8, Dated 15/06/2006'. It gives the noise level for a full range of aircraft.

Noise measurements = Border measurements until proof has been given.

That is what it says as for what it means over to someone else.

Thanks for the information above which is very useful. As an update, EASA have got a link through to their very big Excel databases of noise for helicopters, and jet and propeller aircraft:

The key value is the "level" for takeoff, overflight and approach and not the "limit", which is an ICAO calculated limit for a particular Stage compliance. The "limit" and the "margin" (= limit - level) are metrics used to see how close the particular machine is to the limit.
