Can someone pleeeeeeease give some up to date info on what GB is like to fly for as cabin crew. I am desperate to find out but there are not many old threads about it on here.

Any comments or advice about life at GB would be great!

Cheers everyone & happy flying!!!

My daughter also starts her training in September for GB, for it's Manchester base, training to be done at Man or Gatwick?

training at MAN. Will be expected to cover LGW bound flights on her stand by's though due to shortage of crew, so she will spend a few nights in the Meridien!

At the moment as you can read we are short of crew in LGW, so rosters are busy. Most of the flts are full, so is hard work (but so should be in any airline this time of year). But apart from this if you ask around I would say that most of everyone can say that GB cabin crew is very friendly. At least in my flts we always have a good laugh. The reason alot of people leave is to go longhaul or BA.
We have also just had a raise to our salaries so we are in line with majority of other airlines.

Have you apply with GB or you already got it?

hello pr72,

i start in september for manchester crew, they seem a really nice airline to work for, when i was at the interview i got told alot of people use the airline as a stepping stone. im glad they have put the pay up they needed to.

cant wait to start, not long now
what is the procedure of checking references, are they strict if you get abad reference, it just i have got awritten warning, would they still take me on hope so!

I think you should be alright, on my opinion. The Cabin Crew Manager that you have in MAN is very fair person and very nice too. I'll see down in LGW sometime. Good luck!

Have a read of the latest Manchester Happening thread, someone reporting that GB are to take over the MAN - JFK ROUTE from BA using an A330.

i cant see that!! i think its just a rumour

cant see ba giving away a profitable route away to gb but who knows!!

I remember a 7 or 8 months ago in the company, rumours of the new route Sharm el Sheik. Crew Manager said that it would never happen!

Sharm El Sheik flights start in October !

Watch this space.

yeah they start in oct, but i cant see gb doing longhaul just yet, and i think if they do they would start from gatwick and not from man

BA won't let GB expand much more out of LGW due to Scope (Union) agreements and slots are getting harder to get hold of along with stiff competition. However they are able to expand out of MAN. I am told that any further expansion for GB will be out of MAN for the next couple of years then evaluate another "Northern" base. So who knows, GB admit it's hard work competition wise in Spain and Portugal and need to look further afield.

The A330 may only be a rumour but one that should not be discounted in the near future.
