QR is to start services to Hong Kong before the end of the year. The services will initially operate 3 times a week, as an extension to either current Beijing or Shanghai routes.

The Hong Kong service will then be de-linked and will operate directly from Doha early in 2006.

The link flights will not be able to uplift passengers who wish to fly only from Peking or Shanghai to HKG or vice-versa, as no rights will be given by the Chinese Authorities.

QR is also considering ICN as another possible link with Hong Kong in the first three months of service, until the route becomes direct.

Is this due to a real market existing between DOH/HKG vv or just a way to bail out ailing far east routes as is the case with the constant linking/delinking of KUL/SIN/CEB/JKT etc.
What sort of load factors are currently seen on the North Asian routes?
