It is believed to be Monarch Scheduled that are the airline involved.

No idea which routes yet or how many.

More as they say when I get it !

In a surprise move, Monarch goes domestic. Daily flights to Gatwick from Aberdeen :E

Seriously though, I would have thought FlyGlobespan were more likely than Monarch.

Well well, things certainly are looking up round these parts!!

does anyone know if something has changed to bring this sudden interest back to ABZ? I know a lot of carriers were always put off by the high landing fees at ABZ, have these changed?

Or has everyone finally realised what a great place Aberdeen is ;)

Does the 24 hour opening have any relevance?

ABZ has been waiting for some decent competition for a while - even if the population isn't that large, there is plenty of money floating around, not to mention the distances either by land to other airports, or the simple fact that most other UK cities are not a realistic road or rail journey from ABZ.

I'm very surprised that it is or may be ZB, haven't we been awaiting a BE announcement for quite a while?

Both may pitch themselves at the quality end of the market, but assuming ZB would use A321s, they would have a lot more seats to fill than Flybe, assuming they started by basing a few Q400s there.

Bet it's Norwich !!!

:{

Early edition of our evening paper also says it\'s Monarch\'s scheduled arm.

All to be revealed tomorrow.

An unnamed spokeman for ABZ said it was "quite a coup" for Aberdeen airport.

THE EXCITEMENT !!!!

Just reading the BBC Scotland website re the news of the new AGP-ABZ route.

Says it is ABZ's FIRST international budget service.

(Don't tell Ryanair, who started ABZ - DUB over 2yrs ago...I always thought DUB was in the IRISH REPUBLIC...)
