(Taken from a thread on Terms and Endearment)

What is most important to you??

The financial incentives of the job (which are there, believe it or not!)?

OR

Job satisfaction and happiness at a company?

Would be interested to know what everyone thinks on this one.

In tech school we used to say that money can't buy happiness, but happiness can't buy squat.

I ended up at a major airline. Go figure.

It's nice when an accceptable compromise can be reached, but it's hard to find the situation around airplanes. Either a great shop with good people to work with, or great pay working with uninspired children. Aargh!

(Found the same case in racing. Must just be fast machinery that causes it)

It has to be a blend of the two factors even with a huge paycheck i'm only able to take so much sh#t. I've seen what i might consider close to my ideal job, only to find not enough money forthcoming to keep Mrs Ragspanner in the manner to which she has become accustomed !.

It's not totally clearcut is it. Personally, it's important to me to have a rewarding and enjoyable job, and to have enough money to support my family and taste in expensive toys. Would I take a less interesting job for more money? - probably not. Would I take a drop in pay for a more interesting job, yes if the pay didn't drop too much.

Can I find a more interesting job that also pays better, well I keep looking.
