French TV has a piece tonight about passengers refusing to fly on a charter aircraft from Egypt because they felt it was in a dangerous state. Bearing in mind the tragic accident last year in Egypt involving a charter aircraft in which alot of French holiday makers perished, the media are making a big story of this.

Ive found a link to the story HERE (http://info.france2.fr/france/12322591-fr.php)

I know my French needs improvement, so maybe I misunderstand fully, but it seems there was some sort of electrical problem followed by an aborted take off? When the aircraft eventually arrived in Paris, the DGAC apparently blocked its next departure on safety grounds, but later cleared it as OK.

Anyone with more info or better translation skills care to comment?

Correct translation, skydriller. It says the DGAC (French equivalent of CAA) carried out an inspection, but of course the inspection is very limited and not technical (just external), and limited to the documents, but without checking the pilots' LPC or OPC because the rules are different on non-JAA countries.
This is fuelling discussions in France about how useful is setting high standards in your country and then letting in anyone (non JAA, non FCL) from outside. France is still under the shock of the Flash Airlines accident in Sharm el Sheik.

It was said that a generator, powering the air conditioning, broke down. The problem was detected only after the passengers boarded.
