Hi everyone
I know FNPT II hours should be logged in the syntetic/simulator column, can they also be added to the IFR total and Multiengine total? is this valid only for PF or also for PNF hours?

thanks;)

nope

sim time is not logged as anything other than sim time, and certainly not added to your mutli engine column.

thanks gus
I'm trying to find an answer to my question in the jar-fcl book but I can't. Are you sure FNPT II time can't be logged as IFR time? I think so as FNPT II are used for IFR training during integrated courses.

Hi epsilonmiuraised,

FNPT I & II can only be logged at that.

BUT, in order to get some licenses and ratings some of your FNPT time can count as applicable.

Read JAR-FCL for the number of hours granted for each rating.

Regards!

I've heard that you can count up to 25 hrs on an FNPTII towards your total time and up to 100 on FFS.

Simulator (or FNPT) time is not flight time under any circumstances, and must never be logged as such. There may be concessions that allow you to claim simulator time as part-qualification for certain things, but that does not mean you can log the time as anything other than simulator time.

If you are applying for jobs, whatever your hours, employers will assume you have an appropriate amount of simulator time for your overall experience, and, in general, will not require CV evidence of such time. The fact that it is entered in your logbook in the appropriate section is sufficient.

I have to disagree here Scroggs,

You ARE allowed, and in certain JAA countries (eg. Germany) expected to log your simulator hours during a Type-rating as Actual Flight time IF this simulator is a zero-flight time device. (level D)

FNPTII though is purely simulator time.

There may be (in some countries) different rules about logging flight hours in Zero-Flight-Time simulators when undergoing a specifically ZFT course. The logic is moot, but, in any case, that was not the thrust of the question. No Wannabe is likely qualify for a ZFT course in any case - by the time they are ZFT-able, they will have long since ceased to be Wannabes!

The question of logging sim time has come up often before, and usually leads to questions about whether sim time should be included in flight time in a CV. I am trying to pre-empt that line of enquiry before it happens.

Yes. Remember not to confuse Total Time with Flight Time.

My post was pointing out that simulated hours do count towards your total time - this only becomes relevant regarding 'unfreezing' a Frozen ATPL as you can include it towards the 1500 mark.

Otherwise, I wouldn't even bother logging it.
