Does anybody know of any firms in the Bedfordshire region looking to take on an apprentice aircraft engineer?

Are you looking to start as an apprentice, or are you coming out of your time as one?

I'm actually the 'concerned' mum of a 17 year old apprentice helicoptor engineer who is about to be made redundant due to the firm's imminent collapse. He has one year's work experience, has gained an NVQ2 in general engineering and has now signed up for an day-release aircraft engineering course at college - but needs to be working in the aircraft industry. He is really keen to continue his apprenticeship.

you can look at the following Airbus website, http://www.airbus.com/en/careers/young_people/apprenticeships/[/URL]. It may be worth it.

Well done Mum. You can't beat a Mother. Mine got me first holiday job and my first real job. Come to that most of the family got their first jobs through the 'mums network'.

Can't help, I'm afraid but good luck.

No, it's not Devon-based as far as I know. It's based at Cranfield.

We'll definitely take a look at the airbus site - thanks

And I'll have a word with him about the Army Air Corps.

And thanks for the \'good luck\' email and the \'mum appreciation\' vote. The things we do.......

I heard on the grapevine that Monarch Airlines Engineering are looking at taking on alot of apprentices in the near furture. This would be at their main base in Luton. He could do alot worse than to join them, training as far as I know is good and they encourage the apprentices to study for a B1/2 License. I haven't gor their address to hand but could probably find it for you.

or Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation at http://www.gulfstream.com/sites/london.html

or Harrods Aviation at http://www.harrodsaviation.com/

Britannia Airways or whatever they call themselves these days are also based at Luton and have a large hangar here
