And if so, tell me how!

Is it posible to make a working minature jet engine out of little other than the compressor, turbine, and spindle of a regular automotive turbocharger, a piece of pipe, and some sort of fuel delivery system?

My neighbour has just got a Corvette, and is particularly keen on revving the thing up while I'm trying to sleep, so I'd like to go one better. I now they can be bought for around the £1000 mark, but I think the missus would do her nut!

Cheers lads and lasses :D

Yes, Southampton University have one down in the cellar somewhere. Runs at about 2% efficiency and makes enough noise to raise the dead - but it works.

Or you could buy an old APU cheap, add a belt reduction and prop and claim you're hoping to fit it to an aeroplane.

If you saw the Jeramey Clarkson series a couple of months ago, he was riding around on an old bike with a small jet on the back. No bigger than a large dog food tin. Scared the **** out of the old dears in the park he was riding around in. Made so much noise!

An aquaintance of mine was making one for a model plane whilst in the middle east, I think that in the model plane world Jets are the 'in' thing at the mo. I'm particularly impressed by the rig above- the long winter nights must just fly by :D . I was thinking of building a 'Still this winter as a little project but now i want my own jet.

Why not just tell him to stop it!
Alternativly go over armed with lead pencil, potato's,sugar, itching powder and whatever you can think of,praise the vette and ask for a look.Put some MJ2 in it for him.
There was a 'Screamin demon" advertised years ago if he dosen't get the hint.
It was easy to make, and noisy.
Good luck!

ebay sounds a good bet to me - have you seen what you can get on there? www.ebay.com (http://www.ebay.com) the only place to shop. I'm sure that's where half our spares come from!!
