We are looking at an aircraft we wish to buy. It had a new c/s prop in 1998 and has done about 50 hours since then. How have the requirements for the Notice 75 changed recently and on a private C of A, when would scheduled maintenance be due. Any help gratefully received and acknowledged.

You really need to look at Airworthiness Notice 75 to see how it may apply to your particular situation. The issue date of this AWN is 4th April 1997 issue 10. There have been no changes recently except that all notices are now printed on A4 size paper. As an owner of an aircraft on the british register, you should be supplied with updates to airworthiness notices as they become avaialable or you can download them from the internet at www.srg.caa.co.uk. . . . [ 17 March 2002, 22:23: Message edited by: HiSpeedTape ]

Oxford Blue - I jump them, not fly them !. .Hi Speed Tape - Thanks, i dug through my dusty books and found a reference copy. It is an Avia prop with an overhaul life of 1000hrs, therefore I presume the schedule in table 2a will apply which explains why it hasn't had a specific Notice 75 type overhaul since new. It is 4 years old now and has only done 50 hrs.

Hi javlin, notice 75 is due every 3years or you can extend it to the next annual ,so theoretically you can go nearly 4 years.. .It doesn,t matter wether its public transport or private catagory the times don,t change.Every 6 years you will need to carry out a bare blade which is normally done in conjunction with the notice 75.Most vp props have a life of 2000hrs.. .if the aircraft is n reg then overhaul is due every 5 years. The notice 75 was brought out for aircraft that did very little hours like yours which would never reach overhaul due to low utilization.Take the prop to bob giddy at brinkly aviation meppershall.Good prices & work.
