Can anyone give me some info on ramp jobs for a lame with B747-400 R/R and GE at either Heathrow or Gatwick.
I am living in NZ, but have right to abode in UK.

There is work around ,do you have UK CAA tickets ?. A good source of info ref the tickets is Airmech, Whose address is :

A Kiwi mate has fairly recently converted,if you like i'll ask him to give you the gen- let me know.

any info on CAA licence would be good. I've been in contact with CAA but difficult to get an answer. I tried that airmech website but wasn't working.

Assuming the NZ system is similar to UK system, the CAA are no longer issueing LWTR you will now have to go for JAA 66 B1, and that will take a lot of conversion, whereas before you would of only had to do air leg, i's a bit more involved. Have a look at the CAA website CAA (http://www.caa.co.uk) and go to the Safety regulation pages all the info should be there. Good luck I think you might need it.

With a 74 type on your licence about the only two serious options are BA or Virgin. BA are fine if you don't mind working a 7 on 3 off 7 on 4 off shift and being treated like dirt. Virgin are a far better company to work for , and after all the RR Classics at LGW are all ex ANZ anyway so you'd be on familiar territory. If you are interested drop them a CV at: Arrivals, Virgin Atlantic Airways, Griffin House, 135 High Street, Crawley, RH10 1DQ not sure if there are any jobs at the mo but with the fleet expanding like it is currently you might be in luck
