Iv'e noticed that one or two topics from this site are being cut and pasted onto the airmech site. Is this because Airmech is short of enthusiasm or is it that we are content PPruners and relectant to switch our codes? :D :D

Chris@AirMech

So here I am trying patch things up between AirMech and Pprune, I have referred people to pprune and mentioned it favourably (despite recent occurences) on the site, and you come out with this crap.

Some points I want to mention...

1. The topics are not being cut and pasted. The answers are though if these are relevant to questions being asked on AirMech.

2. If you had bothered to check, either the exact same questions had been asked on both sites, or ones that were very similar. I made the source clear.

3. The answers are for your fellow engineers. Are you really that single minded that you would deny your colleagues this information?

4. Lack of enthusiasm. ?? Have you checked the new topics on AirMech that are not associated with complaining. Quite a lot and growing. I just wish you could see the hit counter.

5. I am glad you are a contented ppruner. I am not forcing you to change. We just offer an alternative. Likewise you must appreciate pprune is not the only Engineers forum out there.

6. I will cut and paste anything I think is relevant to our readers.

7. I did notice that you visited our site. Why? Are you not really contented at pprune? Curious ? Nosey ? Just visited to dig up some dirt and go running back (complaining) to pprune?

8. It is none of your business what I do.

I thought the concensus was that the sites could co-exist? This is not the way forward.

Thanks.

CHRIS,

I AM SUPRISED THAT THAT SOMEONE AS INTELLIGENT AS YOU HAS GOT THE COMPLETE END OF THE STICK.

I AM NOT DRIVING A WEDGE BETWEEN THE TWO SITES, IN FACT QUITE THE OPPOSITE. I WAS TRYING TO DRUM UP SOME ENTHUSIASM AND ENCOURAGE NEW TOPICS AS THE SITE WAS / IS AT PRESENT A LITTLE SPARSE.

GO ON CHRIS, ADMIT IT.

Well maybe you should of worded it better.

Penitoff, the pprune site is sadly lacking nowadays. Lacking in enthusiasm (except for complaining), lacking in conversation (except for whinging), lacking in topics that are interesting (because nearly everyone uses AirMech).

It may be sad that everyone posts over there now, but hey, its better. No argument, it just is. We have our own forums by employer etc, just like the pilots do here.

So whats the problem, Chris@Airmech deleted a few posts - that is in the past, it hasn't happened since.

So next time you want to drum up a new topic what about not picking on AirMech, not complaining about anything at all for once.

The new airmech bulletin board has done some good actually, we can have a conversation without the old farts butting in all the time, 'butt' being the appropriate word.

hmmm.

Chris' reaction to penitoff's perfectly reasonable question sums up why some are not bothering with airmech.
From what I have read on airmech, you are not allowed to have an an opinion if it disagrees with chris!
chris, let the people speak for themselves instead of stamping on every little sentiment that may upset you.

HOVIS... stop being so thick.

1. Both AirMech and pprune are moderated sites.
2. pprune bans people for swearing and being out of order. Only they think this forum isn't worth the time of day.
3. You do not own either site, and as such you have no input into the setting of the rules. On the other hand I own AirMech, and I set the rules. If I want to ban someone for swearing I will do that and defend it.

At this point I will tell you to stop being thick again - I do not ban people for disagreeing with me. Give it up you fool.

HOVIS, please, I beg you, stay with pprune. Your loyalty is awesome.

Everyone else, if you are wondering what this is about, there is a bulletin board at www.AirMech.co.uk (http://www.AirMech.co.uk) . Please feel free to try it out.

Penitoff / Hovis, you obviously have no values. You may want to go through life uncensored, but this is the real world.

I imagine the situation...

(Mechanic father at computer reading pprune)

"Daddy what does WAN.KER mean ??"

"It means nothing sweatheart, it is just a word they use around here."

If swearing and abuse is removed from websites isn't this a good thing ?? Have you read AirMech recently, the forum you are wobbling on about has long gone. Apart from that, Chris is doing a sound job setting up forums for us on request. A bit like this site really. So, fellow engineers, if you want to talk shop, rather than whinge on... visit AirMech

“Stop being so thick”, “losers” …….

You airmech people want to offer an alternative to prune yet you act like spoilt children. If pprune is that bad why have you copied its format by using the same cgi bulletin board ? and why are you cutting and pasting content from prune into airmech?

If you want people to take you seriously start acting like professionals. There is room for both sites and I would be happy to use both if I thought I could post a perfectly reasonable question like pens’ without getting censored or having my head bitten off….

Chris@AirMech
29th Oct 2001, 01:32
And another one...

1. I said I think HOVIS is thick, not you.
2. I didn't call anyone a loser.
3. There are thousands of these bulletin boards, Infopop are the market leader. When did we ever say we didn't like the infopop bulletin board system?
4. I have already answered the cut and paste question. Maybe you should read it.
5. We are taken seriously. Look how many posts from different readers we have over any number of days compared with this forum.
6. You can post a question like penitoffs'. But only at pprune.
And as it was a derogatory question, it had an appropriate answer.
7. I can't help it if a minority of people don't understand the difference between moderating and censorship.
8. Professionals? If you think I do this for a living you are sadly mistaken.

Hey sarge

I notice that for someone who speaks with authority about the differences between the two sites, your previous post was also your first at pprune ??? How can this be ??? How do you possibly know what is better or worse?

I would hazard a guess that you are just on the bandwagon. Enjoy the ride while it lasts.

sgt fletcher
29th Oct 2001, 01:54
1.Yes I realise that since it was my first ever post. That was the very point I was trying to make you were attacking Hovis just because you did not want to hear what he was saying.

2.I was referring to A4’s bottom line in his post defending you.

3.You didn’t, I was just commenting on how you recently changed your site to look like pprune

4.I have and I don’t think it is a bad thing what you are doing but if you are doing it whilst criticising the very site that gives you the material then you are a hypocrite

5.Agreed but you have undoubtedly alienated some people with your attitude

6.I think you are a bit touchy!

7.I understand perfectly the difference and I also know someone personally who had several of his posts removed by your “moderation” just because he said something you didn’t want to hear

8.I meant Professional in the sense that we are professional engineers

9.CHILL OUT MAN!!!!

Chris@AirMech
29th Oct 2001, 02:05
1. HOVIS has been a pain in the butt for some time. He spouts drivel. Check his recent posts.
2. Whatever A4 says is a matter to be directed towards him not me.
3. We didn't change the site to look like pprune. We changed it to work like pprune.
4. I have found a thousand cruddy sites with snippets of information that I have copied. So I am a mega-hypocrite.
5. I have alienated some people, but I have rules and standards for AirMech. If people don't want to be bound by a few simple rules, please stay away.
6. I am a bit touchy. It gets a bit tedious trying to explain to people that...

7. YOU DO NOT GET BANNED FROM AIRMECH FOR HAVING AN OPINION. YOU GET BANNED FOR BEING OFFENSIVE, RUDE OR FOR SWEARING.

8. OK
9. Only if you do.

Much as I think a place exists for both sites I think that the attitude of the "moderator" (it's my site and I will delete what I want) is very sad. I placed 4 items on airmech reference "chris's" attitude towards both pprune and non-engineers, all deleted, no answers + he changed his initial comments on pprune.

As for pprune being a "slow" site, airmech is now slowing due to the c*!p surrounding the site.

I am sure it has taken plenty of your time to set up the site but please let your military hang-ups (them & us) die in the past! I would love to meet you to see if you are the chipped up guy that you appear.

Please feel free to ban me from your site if it gives you that feeling of power that you obviously lack in the real world.

LEAVE THE POOR BLOKE ALONE!!!!!!!!

We all say and do things that upset other people and we dont all agree with other peoples opinions but isnt this taking things a bit far. Stop all this and start posting some interesting things.

You lot dont own the site, it must take a hell of a lot of time and effort to set up Air Mech but I don't see anyone saying thankyou.

Sgt Fletcher, perhaps you should spend a bit more time here and there before having a go, some of us try to use these resources not just clog them up with moaning. So what if the board looks the same as prune its a good format. If I buy a car I dont go out and buy one nobody else has I buy the one that suits the needs and is right for my puroses

Chris, there's nothing thick in this bag it's all medium sliced!!

You are definately getting touchy, I was only referring to comments and opinions not bad language.

Speaking of which, if a child of mine were to see some of your more er.. right wing comments on airmech I would be a damn site more concerned than if he asked me what a Wa***r was!

But there again if he had read some of your posts he wouldn't need to ask would he?!!!!

Keep up the good work it's very entertaining.

I havn't laughed so much since The Guvnor posted his last message!

Chris

Thanks for the Web site - there, someone said it !!!

Maybe you could re-instate the "Biching About" forum and we could all have this argument back on airmech, instead of someone elses site.

PS - Have found the JAR question bank invaluable whilst taking recent exams

That would be as long as the "bitching" is not "about" Chris as he cannot take any criticism.

As I have said before it IS a good site and I thank Chris for his hard work getting it up and running, however at the moment any comments that are negative are just deleted (I know he did it to me 4 times, with no answer or explanation). If it's bad language or name calling sure edit or delete it, but please learn to live with criticism.

OK heres a deal for those who may be interested...

Bitchin forum to be re-instated tonight.

You promise...
1) That you will use the bitchin forum for whinging, complaining or debate on any subject. This must be done in a constructive way that provokes reasonable response.
2) No personal abuse or attacks of any kind (temp ban)
3) No Swearing (temp ban)
4) That anything in the bitchin forum stays in the bitchin forum, and does not infiltrate the rest of the site.

I promise
1) Not to delete posts unless they contravene the above rules.
2) The above rules will be posted in the forum entrance. If you come in you abide by the rules.
3) To moderate the room in a fair way in accordance with the above rules, for the protection of all, including myself and AirMech.

Don't think that this means that this conversation can restart in it's current form. This conversation belongs here. There's too many bad vibes. This is a clean start.

I think I have covered everything. I am sure you will let me know if something is amiss.

By the way, thanks to 'sarge', and thanks to those who said thank you. It is appreciated, glad the site has been of assistance.

Do you participate, or even read, any subject not dealing with airmech ???? Before we all make a saint out of you, please define "personal attacks", īcos you seem to take any critizm as a personal attack.

Hi Doc

A personal attack is targetted abuse to a particular person.

I have been particularly sensitive to this, but I just won't voice my opinion any more. I will however be moderating the board for the protection of others.

For example, tonight some clown came on calling a woman engineer, by name, a slut, useless, and a bunch of other stuff.

That is not acceptable and is the type of behaviour that cannot be negotiated around - action has to be taken.

I hope you understand.

Regards

Chris

She may be, I don't care.

It can be posted somewhere else. Not on AirMech and I doubt the pprune readers would appreciate crap like that as well.

The worst thing is that it was done with an anonymous logon.

What sort of loser has a go at a woman (whatever her standing) and has to make up an identity to protect himself. If it's worth saying say it yourself, if not shut the f**k up.

Chris,

I have registered on your site, have not posted much yet, but read it at least daily.

For what it is worth, I think you are 100% right with your stand on this.

I also enjoy PPRuNe very much, have for years, however one thing I do NOT like on PPRune, and it seems to be a particular problem on Dunnunda and Godzone, is the sometimes personal abuse, and I do not mean against me, although it has been sometimes, just in general.

Please keep up the good work and stamp down heavily on ANY personal abuse, this abuse is NOT necessary..........

Best regards,

"lame"

:)
