I have no idea where to post this so beg the indulgence of the moderators...
When was the last time you saw a feature film written, directed by an ex-commerical pilot and with him in the starring role?
Thought not. Some background....
Some of you may remember the loss of LAPA 3142 (a 737-200) at Aeroparque on the 31st of August 1999 in which 65 people were killed.
Prevous to this event Enrique Piñeyro had resigned his position as a pilot with the company after his repeated complaints about the appalling lack of safe proceedures were ignored. He went on to make a second career for himself as an actor, yes, an actor, and has now made an excellent film about LAPA , the culture and practices that led to the loss of flight 3142 and, in more general terms, how difficult it is to tell the truth when your job is on the line.
I´m not a pilot but the aviation scenes looked fresh and authentic.
Piñeyro does a storming job playing himself and the film is highly recommendable in all respects.
I saw it in Buenos Aires last night but I am sure there must be some way to get it on DVD with English subtitles.
