Thinking of buying one for personal/charter ops.
The folks concerned like the 4-engine idea.

Anyone have recent operating data/costs?

Many thanks!:ok:

I like the JetStar II, but for a maintenance company she is a license to print money, so look out for as much of the following should you go down this route:

Fresh Tank & Plank
Engines are 100% covered on full MSP/JSSI program
Airframe on JSSI
RVSM!!
MNPS Certified
8.33 kHz Spacing
FM Immunity

The Tank and Plank can be a killer for some JetStar operators and the task should really only be given to companies with proven JetStar maintenance history.

Another worthy point must be fuel burn and the rising costs of fuel. The emerging markets thirst for oil will only get bigger and it would appear that OPEC are unlikely to increase supply to match demand.

With oil at around $60/barrel - this being nearly twice what it was at the start of 2004 - you may want to consider the likelihood of ever being able to get rid of a thirsty and maintenance hungry JetStar,

You may wish to consider a lease

WOW!

Really good info, many thanks.

I operated a -8 powered JetStar many years ago for a short time (for a very large newspaper company) when they were brand new, and it sure was liked by the crew and pax alike.

However, it did gulp fuel like a very big Hoover.
The Garrett engines should help in this respect.

The acft we are looking at are all RVSM/MNPS/8.33/EGPWS/FM compliant, and the pax are all high rollers, so don't mind the fuel cost...:}

As mentioned, tank and plank inspections can be a deal killer, so will proceed with utmost caution.

I have operated other Lockheed aircraft as well, 1649A, and of course the TriStar.
Really appreciated by the operating crew....especially.

Another short question.
What sort of range capability can be considered with this acft, using NBAA fuel reserves?

The -8 powered machine was a tad short legged.:oh:

The tank and plank is not a killer in itself. Its defect rectification therefrom that's the killer !

The market continues to move - albeit a little slower - for these birds. You should be able to find a pearler for around US$1.4M with compliance and fresh from tank and plank. The guys up in Lake Zurich - General Aviation Services - have a couple available that might be of interest to you.

Cheers
