Canada really needs to spend some more dough on it's armed forces, instead of flushing money down the loo on sponsership scandels and human resources boodogles.

Agree with you completely OntarioTech.

Few years ago I looked at a sea change by investigating the likelihood of going to Canada to seek out some fresh air and lifestyle and an opportunity for my family to live in another country. Unfortunately when I enquired and did the sums I realised that I would be going backwards financially and flying mchines that were starting to get long in the tooth to be polite to the CAF. The only folks that are worse off in the pay and conditions department is the RNZAF, poor bastards get paid saw dust and jam sandwhiches to fly.

Expensive exercise training Mil aircrew, even more expensive trying to stock the shelves once the boys have done the bolt due to mediocre pay and conditions and only war birds to fly.

The CAF needs to not only spend $$$$ on procurement, but make sure they address the issue of retention by paying the appropriate $$$$ to aircrew aswell.

My sea change option no longer includes Canada.

Well the new Chief is well in with Martin and apparently more shekels are on the way, what with the S-92 order and what not. However now that Martin has to find 0.7% of GDP to avoid another b0llocking from Geldof no doubt it will all be clawed back.

Well since I got back into the CF last year I have to say that I have seen some good changes and some bad. Pay has gone up quite a bit from when I left. I'm now close to $100,000 and I don't think that the RNZAF is the only air force worse off than that. I think we do well as far as pay is concerned. Airframe wise yes we have a very long way to go in order to update and sustain. However, I don't believe that we are alone in that regard.
I'm very glad that I got back in and intend to stay for a while.

If your bag of s - - t got bigger than your bag of gold it is no wonder you are back in the Mil and $$$ is not probably that important to you right now, getting the sand out of your eyes and ears, getting your sense of humour back and being able to surf porn without getting your tounge or your left hand cut off probably is. The same reasons that led you leave the first time will probably sneak up on you again.

Did you teach the tea towel heads to roll out wings level count to 5 before attempting the next sequence? Every one else did.

Well, afterCF detachments went into the arctic (at substantial hazard) because some Danes started sticking up flags where they shouldn't, SASless is not so far from the truth! The receding icecap opening the northern passage to shipping is becoming a prize worth staking out.

Ahhhhh life after Saudi:ok: It's amazing when at Ops meetings all the other guys are bitching about things but I sit there with a dreamy smile on my face thinking-"Yes this is less than ideal but at least I'm not in Saudi anymore!"
I don't regret the time I spent there at all but I'm damn glad to be back in the CF problems or not.
