Shoreham has quite often had the odd military type dropping in, Sea King and Harrier as well as others. Usually they are stopping off for a coffee and fuel. Nothing more than that really. I would imagine that there are other reasons but more often than not this is why.

Gaz

It is all on its lonesome now, probably just the boys having a look at an unusual visitor.

The Royal Navy Merlin was on trials from Boscombe. A chip detector illuminated and the crew decided to divert to Shoreham. Five that I saw. Very pleasant chaps sitting in the briefing room because only the tower has air conditioning and they couldn't all get in there could they? They were still cooling their heels at 19:30 local waiting for the MPs who were to guard the aircraft overnight and the maintenance crew who had to drive up in two hired cars. The hoped to take over the cars and return before midnight.

One engine now changed. Expected to fly out on Monday.
