The BBC reports that QR has ditched plans to announce Boeing purchases at Le Bourget, and will instead opt for 60 of the new Airbus A350 aircraft.

I have to say I am a little surprised and hope that the BBC have got it wrong. Rumours were very strong that QR would opt for either the 777LR and/or the 787, and that it would be announced at Paris.

Perhaps they will save THAT announcement for Dubai in November!

Also, given that the A380 has actually made it to the Paris show, does anyone think that it will also be in Dubai in November?

BBC has corrected the news article and confirms that QR is also ordering the 777.

itīs true...?? what true..?

Nothing has been signed, everything is in the conditionnal,woolly..."on negociation" .. "intends to..." should be delivered..."
For sure they will propably sign some deals...

But Whatīs the point to make a press conference and attract a lot of journalist even before signing any deal and without bringing any confirmation...! just show.....AAB like that....

Don't you all know by now that in the Middle East every one has to have the tallest building, the biggest mall, the best island built, a Ferarri, latest mobile phone, and now it seems like they all want the biggest airline, most modern fleet and most important.......... BE THE FIRST TO ORDER..............................

this list could go on forever but "he who is in the news the most for building or getting bigger or better" is the one who wins.

A long long time ago a captain told me that in the airline buisness, "you will only know you are getting new airplanes and the promises of promotion to those new airplanes when the gear handle is in your hand and you are saying "gear up."
Until that time it can all be a hoax or the airline may "CHANGE THEIR MIND, (wink wink ) on the orders."

I do think it is different in the middle east with these very deep pockets of money they have, BUT """YOU NEVER KNOW"""
