While driving on the A148 in Norfolk last Wednesday I saw a formation of Jaguars heading roughly in the direction of Colt. Given that such activities are no longer done for fun, this could mean only one of two things - another squadron disbanding, or the whole station closing (unless of course there was a families/open day and sufficient funds in the budget).

Anyone able to enlighten (as I couldn't find any mention in the local press or TV).

Could be practising for RIAT... or other displays. I'd imagine the Sqns are going to be busy with displays until they finally disband. Not much of an operational role left for the jets now before they are (prematurely) disposed of.

It certainly won't be the Stn closing, Colt doesn't (needlessly) close until next year. April, I think.

It was for the AFI (Annual Formal Inspection).

AFI - What fun that must have been, it was a hot day and I was on my way to the beach (to exercise the dogs, not for pleasure!):D The pleasure of parades in a warm wool suit; oh how I miss it. ;)
