Can anyone tell me what KLM is like to work for, My initial information seems positive.

I'll reply if no one else will.
Never worked there but all impressions seem that it is an OK company. The world's strictest on recency of courses though.
For example, a guy I worked with at LTU in Germany went to work for them on 737's in Amsterdam. Never worked a 737 but had just finished a course with FLS Aerospace so he was right in. Some operators require you to have seen the a/c before you certify one! I applied to work for them having been coursed up on 767 and 747-400 and A340 and worked them for 11/9/5 years but was rejected because my courses were in 1993/1995 and 1997 respectively. Experience is not required, but recency of courses is!!
Other than that seems pretty good ,ie they have aircraft engineers in management positions instead of beancounters which is good. If you are applying good luck but through logic out of the window.

Alright already ... well, I chat with the guys at SIN Line with KLM, good crew, mostly Singaporean engineers (ex SIA or MAS)with a Dutch senior man. They fly in replacements to cover leave etc, met a good guy from JoBurg station who came in for 2 weeks leave relief, he only had good things to tell.
What more can one say?

Hi.
I am new here.
To say a thing about working for KLM.
Well probably at SIN it should be o.k.
At Ams it is different.
Jes the Managers are some of them all old Engineers but the new ones are short term managers. That should say enough.
Also the company is selling at the moment there Maint Division.
The engineers feel the pressure and to not overcome Manager pressure some good ones have formed an Organsation of Licenced Personel. Go to www.nvlt.nl. (http://www.nvlt.nl.)

Really hate to drag up an old topic, but wondering if other SE Asian Airlines employ on Expatriate terms. Just can't quite work out why KLM is so reluctant.

MAS, SIA, RBA, Vietnam Al, to name but a few employ expats. Depends on what cover you have?

......anyway, I really wanted the job offered, but needed some of the expat terms that the other airlines seem to offer to make it happen. Just keep waiting I guess...

Hang in there mate, it will happen, probably when you least expect it to. The thing you find is when you have taken that first step into expat-itis, a lot of other opportunities will come about. There are still a lot of jobs that only get filled on the need to know network. Just this week I have been asked do I know any 747-400 avionic guys looking for a job?
