London City Airport is delighted to announce the launch of a new service to Copenhagen. The route will be operated by SUN-AIR a franchise partner of British Airways. The route starts with effect of the winter timetable on Monday 31 October 2005.

There will be two flights daily Monday to Friday departing London City Airport at 09:15 and 17:50. SUN-AIR operating as British Airways will operate the service using a Dornier 328 aircraft, which has 32 seats.

Richard Gooding, Managing Director of London City Airport is confident that the business communities, both in London and Copenhagen, will support the route “Copenhagen has been a destination that has been in strong demand from our customers, so I’m sure that it will receive the support to be successful.

“Seeing British Airways launch a new service to their current route network, in addition to the their recent announcement increasing the frequency on their Edinburgh service, reflects the current growth of the business travel market and the high level of demand for convenient air travel. It's great to see British Airways expanding their East London network, we wish them every success."

British Airways currently operates service to Edinburgh, Frankfurt and Geneva.

“With the new route we meet the request from the financial sectors in both Denmark and England for a direct route between Copenhagen and London City,” CEO and owner of SUN-AIR of Scandinavia A/S Niels Sundberg says, “We have considered London City Airport for several years. We have just been waiting for the right timing and the right type of aircraft.”

Noted on the LCY thread (http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=1921135#post1921135), although they've obviously abandoned the Sunday service. Thanks for the update.

Thank goodness the service will route out via Clacton and so avoid interacting with Luton at Brookmans Park...

:hmm:
