Hoon in today's Grauniad:

There is a popular myth that MPs should be regarded as a bunch of second-raters who are in it for what they can get. This is grossly unfair, but it is worrying that people think it.
Well, what do you think, chaps and chapesses? Is our former esteemed SofS just the kind of first-rater to disabuse the great British public of their popular 'myth'?

I've met a few (MPs) and the saddest thing I heard today was that Rachel Squire had a stroke. She's a Labour MP on the House of Commons Defence Select Committee and I've been there a couple of times. She asks straight questions and admits when she doesn't understand something if she doesn't. She has had 2 brain tumours and I wish her well. A quality example of a good working MP.
