Hello everyone,
thinking about a 737 rating. Live in Oslo. Does anyone have any experiences/advice on where to go (quality of training/price) and so on and so forth.

Dont't do it.

Except if you have at least TT1500+ and then you need another 2-300 on type.
...and its hard to get 200 hours 737 on your own....

l@alfa,

The only person walking on this earth to decide whether or not to buy a type rating is you. .............And perhaps also you bank manager;) It would interest me to hear more of BNflyer`s argument(s) for not doing it.

On the Nordic forum you will find a couple of threads dealing with your question. But to get you started:

Aviatraining at Torp airport in Norway. www.aviatraining.no (http://www.aviatraining.no) Well established course program. Both B737Classic and NG, short and long programs. Take offs & landings with SASBraathens. Probably among the more expensive courses.

DanFly. Danish TRTO with branch in Sweden. No website, as far as I know. Offering a less expensive program than Aviatraining. Could be because the course is shorter. Do not know where they do the aircraft training.

Astraeus Ltd./Bond Aviation. UK airline offering type rating via their sisiter organisation Bond. Solid education with aircraft training on Astraeus fleet. Line training with Astraeus possible. Probably more expensive than the two above, all in all. www.flyastraeus.com

Randhem. Swedish school using PanAm simulators in Florida. There is a thread about this school on the Nordic forum.

For whatever it is worth; sample as much info about the schools as possible: Length of program, instructors, aircraft training (very important) and cost. Do not let the cost alone be the deciding factor. Go for quality.
