who is here, has no job, and who has paid for a type rating.

There are not so many guys who are looking for a job after their type rating, so what is all this fuss about "do not pay for a type rating"

explain me???

Don't pay for it simply because there is no need. There are jobs out there for low hour pilots who are non type rated. Why pay an extra £20K when you don't have to?!!

Spaceman, instead of spending your time thinking up such worthwhile discussions - why not do something productive that might culminate in getting work?

Mister Geezer

I might care to argue that point! yes there are jobs out there for YOUNG low hour pilots. I have just been turned down at the interview stage, by a low cost regional, with nearly 2000 hours in the book!! funny old thing some younger applicants got through with in the region of 250 hours.
Can only be one of two reasons, either my age (43) or I made a complete arse of myself in the interview, I will let you guys n gals decide :uhoh:

You are a spring chicken at 43!

I know of a few people that started off their careers in there 40s. Ok you won't have the same progression opportunities as someone who started younger but that is nothing to loose any sleep over.

For example, FlyBe seem determined to take young people but look at how many that are actually leaving! The line of 'older people are more of a training risk' is sheer bollocks! Arguably, it is the younger pilots that are the training risk since they will more likely leave, meaning another type rating has to be paid for by the company plus an extra burden on the training dept since someone new needs to be trained up!!! I am using FlyBe as an example but I am guessing that your interview was with them? Their is a happy medium for the airlines to strike so don't get worked up over your age! Regional airlines will soon realise that being older is by in large a benefit!

Hey maybe if B&Q open up an airline then we will see them hiring pilots aged 55 and above only.
