Keep an eye out for this one. Last year, CASA finally tired of the antics of this PPLH in his R44. He had committed offences all around Australia, exceeded every limit of his helicopter, and he was the closest I had ever been to witnessing an accident when he launched off, full fuel, four big boofy blokes, bags under seats, and a downwind takeoff. Just cleared the fence, staggered over some trees and disappeared behind a factory roof. Surprisingly, no puff of smoke, he managed to fly away.

His licence was revoked, so he sold the 44 and we thought the skies were safe again.

Wrong. He went to the USA, got an FAA licence, and bought another R44, flying it around NSW on the N register.

He is still out there... be very scared...

How does that work?
Surely the licence would still be revoked regardless of what aircraft he's in.

or Does having an FAA licence mean you are automatically entitled to fly here?

Just curious (as well as dumbfounded!)

Mr Selfish:

Ten points.

You have obviously seen the Karate Kid fly.

Under CAR 5.27 (Certificates of Validation), some CASA dude must have signed the bit of paper that says he is a fit and proper person to hold the certificate, and especially sub-para 4a, 4b and 5.

Whoever signed it must have his neck in the noose.

Dropping names may help, and its Public Information. If his FAA license is current (based on an FAA medical) you can find it here.
