.....but, it's not for EK right now, but rather Virgin Atlantic, who have announced that they will start services to Dubai next March, using the A346. Services will operate from LHR.

How many direct seats are now available from the UK to Dubai now on a daily basis, not to mention the significant quantity one-stop services operated by almost ALL the European flag carriers, not to mention regional carriers such as GF, QR, etc.

I imagine the flying lady on the nose might need a bit of modification for flights to The Gulf.:E

Triotor, no you're probably right. Just wait for the 60+ A350s, numerous B77-300ERs and who needs A346s when you've got 43 A380s on order, not to mention the new orders soon to be announced!

And out of purely professional courtesy, it might be useful for us at EK to know where the VS crew will be staying in order to pay them a courtesy call! ;)

Now I won't have to bid for Jo'burgs all the time!

TBS,

Wouldn't flying nonstop to Dubai from Glasgow on EK be easier than connecting onto VS at LHR ?

Cheers

word is all 340s to go,as will 332/772. To be replaced by A350-900,772LR,773ER and 380. No aircraft under 300 seats and no aircraft with a range under 7,500nm. Similar fleet policies(787/350,777,380) could also flow through to EY,QR.

QR has already announced that it will take no more narrow bodies, and only wide bodies from now on.

It's bizarre though that EK (and sometimes GF / QR) operate massive equipment, such as 773, on a short sector like DXB-DOH, with only a handful of pax.

I do however concede that sometimes these flights can be fairly full. I still think it would make sense for Ek to operate a small qty of A320 size equipment on such thin, regional routes.

Would that "courtesy" you're referring to be directed towards the flight crew or perhaps those stunning young girls in the fitted red uniforms.....oh, and the red high heels as well.

"YEAAH BABY" in the best Austin powers voice! :D

A300-MAN

Yes, we hate to admit it but all EK pilots have massive equipment!:ooh:
