Not strictly a Rotorhead only issue, but I think it important that we get our views across, the CAA DAP are doing/having carried out a study on the future of Air Traffic Services Outside Controlled Airspace (ATSOCAS)

The current status is at this CAA link:

http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?categoryid=7&pagetype=68&groupid=844

There is a Phase 1 report and a consultation paper and request for views from aircrew who operate OCAS.

I haven't read either in detail yet. However, the documents talk about "improving" the services. A big issue that seems to be hidden within the documents or ignored for the moment is who is going to pay for all this extra "service" OCAS. Given the current attempt by the airlines to s***f GA by passing on much more of the cost of the CAA to that sector, I think we can safely say that GA will be assumed to have to pay for whatever this study comes up with.

Or of course, we could just replace our heads in the sand, as we may become another form of flightless bird, if we do nowt........
