Announcement to come after close of trading today - about two hours from now. Merger to unfold in stages.

I have the feeling GE Capital is going to be the largest shareholder in all US airlines.

Airbus are to take some sort of stake in the new company who have stated they intend to order the a350, and go to an all airbus fleet. Air Canada are to invest also with a view to doing some of the airlines heavy maintenance possibly in Winnipeg.

Why? Surely there are other US airlines who deserve that title?
