If the ATC staff are prevented getting to and from the Scottish & Oceanic Area Control Centre at Prestwick during the period, then things literally could grind to a halt in the air over a wide area of the UK.

I don't see anyone who is unable to be relieved at their radar console due to the late arrival of relief staff, breaking the law by working over the legal time limits laid down in SRATCOH - least not for Bush, Blair, and their cronies.

Hopefully any delays and inconvenience will accrue to those who cause this scene in the first place, and controllers will bust a gut for their fee paying customers rather than kow tow to a bunch of folks on a golf junket with a few meaningless conferences thrown in as a justification. I suspect Bob Geldof is right when he said that nothing will change in the world, because the leaders who have the power to make the changes won't make the effort to do so.

And wouldn't it have made more sense for the leaders to fly to RAF Leuchars which already has limited access geographically and is set up to be secure and defendable ?? Including its own fighter squadrons

GWB: "Scotland huh? It'll be great to ride a camel again. Will we have to refuel in Uzbekistan? Whatever, just let em know I don't like sheep's eyes ok?! :O

100% agree with all of that. I presume Leuchars is able to accomodate AF1 and other "bigger" aircraft?

Interesting to read the bit about rocket-propelled grenades possibly being located on hills from protestors

Where i stay, there have been many unusual callsigns heard on my airband-trannie, recently. All over-flying the main air-corridors from Prestwick to Gleneagles.

Wonder what Bush and co will make of the "Pure dead brilliant" slogan now covering PIK.

Maybe they're selling us all a dummy & are are all actually landing at...ABERDEEN!!!!

(He hopes...desperately...forlornly...)

Agree Leuchars you would think would be the obvious choice from a security point of view.
