The flying club at which I do some part-time instructing has recently taken delivery of a couple of ex-Navy Herons; I note from the flight manual that the aircraft is not cleared for 'snap' manoeuvres whereas Tutors are. Does anyone know if this is a paperwork or an airframe limitation? Since the aircraft is cleared for erect and inverted spinning it seems odd to prohibit what is effectively an incipient spin.

The Heron and the Tutor are very different aircraft which just happen to look almost identical.
The Tutor is carbon Fibre, the Heron is Glass fibre.
The control surfaces are 'hung' in a completely different way. The Heron has simple surface hinges whereas the Tutor has much more sophisticated buried and cantilevered hinges. (I'm not a rigger so I cant give you the correct terms and I'm off work at the moment so cannot ask anyone.)
There are many other differences which are probably not significant in this case.
