At the moment I have a PC in my room with a fairly bog standard 802.11g PCI card in the back. After a recent shift around in the room the PC is now sat on the floor against a wall between two desks. Consequently the antenna sticking out of the back of the PCI card is having a fairly hard time of it. What I am looking to do purchase some sort of antenna that gives better signal reception and is on a lead of sorts so I can sit it in the window or wherever the signal strength is best.

Does anyone have any recommendations? The current antenna seems to be a screw onto the card type affair. When you take it off the you have a small threaded screw-like piece protruding from the PCI card.

Cheers,

It was the connector I was concerned with most. What sort of connector should I be looking for to be compatible with my current card?

Just to follow up, I went for one of these (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=7460955996&action=c2VsZWN0X3Byb2R1Y3Rfb3ZlcnZpZXc=&product_uid=73823) and it works really well. Good signal in what was a very poor area. The connector turned out to be an R-SMA type by the way.

Thanks for the help,
