Apparently EK have ordered 50 A350s to be announced at the Paris Air Show. Anyone heard anything?

Given that the Sunday Times, which ran the story, didn't even attribute it to a source, it sounds to me like little more than guesswork. What are we supposed to do - believe it simply because the ST says so? Yeah right.

Besides EK officially says it hasn't decided anything of the sort.

There has been no word to confirm this from EK.

However, EK ordering the A350 is a given I think. It is after all more or less tailored to them.

I just hope Airbus are not commiting themselves to a Trident or 1-11 type project here, where the plane is far too customized for one airline to be appealing to anyone else.

Care to expand on your 'the Eh350 is tailored for EK' comment, Bmused?

Well, it's all guess work until Paris next month but for my 2 dirhams worth...............B777-200LR gets the vote. It's big,it carries the loads and it goes for miles and miles and miles. Now that's just up Emirates's street.
Watch this space!

Andu I basically mean this:

EK say the 787 is too small, not enough seat for their needs.

Low and behold Airbus emerge with the A350 very soon after with more seat and similar range to the 787.

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to put these together. Also, EK being the single most largest customer for the A380 make its much more likely that Airbus will want to keep em sweet.

So what's the proposed spec on the A350??
