Monarch Scheduled has just announced that from Autumn 2005 it will have almost twice as many weekly flights Luton to Tenerife and Faro, and additional flights Luton to Gibraltar.

All these will be semi 'low cost' with tickets priced at around £40 to £50 one-way.

By the end of this year with additional routes by Ryanair, Wizz, Helvetic and SwedAir, the proportion of scheduled to charter services at Luton will be almost 80% to 20% which is a quite dramatic change of emphasis over a the last five to six years, and will probably put the annual passenger throughput at nearly 10 million.

Luton's weekly movements once again last week put it in 7th UK place ahead of GLA.
