Does anybody know what happened to the Metroliner in George. The right hand prop has got one blade bend. There is blood all over the cowling and fuselage, they must off hit something.
Reg: ZS-OJH.
Can somebody shed some light on this!!:{

That is interesting second bird strike in a while, the last one ended up in a field off the side of RWY 11. Air craft quite badly damaged not sure it was written off. but from the looks of things it was. Apparently also a bird strike. Unfortunate, those approaches in the early mornings when george becomes unmanned, lots of bird activity on the field anyway even during operational hours. Will be interesting to see what this was.

Now, if they were equipped with Darts they'd just suck in the budgie and spit out roast chicken.....:E

Believe it hit a buck, not a bird? Does George get buck on the runway?

They do every now and then. When i was there spotted a little duiker running around which looked as if it lives there so that is a possibility. Obviously it isn't living there any more. Bit of an expensive way to solve that problem!!! :E :ok:

Apparently the Metroliner landed on Saturday morning and either on landing or as they were taxing back to the GA parking area, they hitted a cape grysbok (almost same as duiker). There is damage to the right propeller, and also some damage to the right hand engine.
An observer said today that there is a lot of blood all over the right hand wing and engine cowling. An "accident" report was filled with George tower.

Link hit a duiker with main gear in a J41 just after rotation at Mafeking early last year or end 2003 (not sure). No damage to aircraft fortunately but apparently nasty guts etc on cowling and fuselage.

Also saw Blesbok roaming the airport at Plett a year or so ago.
