In the local evening post on Sat 23rd April it stated Rockhopper would be flying daily to EGHH. In view of their interest in purchasing larger aircraft, and the latest "phase" being in SH360s, would they be operating this type of aircraft or will it be the Trislander/Islander???

In reading some of the aviation magazines, they (Rockhopper) have provisionally reserved registration for two aircraft.
In view of Aurigny due to return the leased Shed G-BNMU, could this be one that they hope to have joining their fleet as this aircraft is due to leave in mid-may. :)

as CI aviation is my pet topic...

going from a tri (15 seat) to a shed (39 seat) is a big step for any airline. AX have just got tri number 3 so it is likely that this will be the prefered growth option at the moment. the possible use of the LET410 (19 seat) could have helped a phased growth but this seams to have being dropped (suspect SRG had something to do with that).

it was only a year ago that GR wanted to fly to GCI-BOH with a shed and dropped it (to the annoyance of the GTB) so back to square one.

more likely is improved frquencies (with the BN's), upto daily at least on all routes and multiple daily especially on st beruic which is apparently doing very well. expect some more growth.

interesting times ahead... especially regarding the ACI terminal eeek!!!

if anyone has any info please post

Daily Bournemouth service returns
21st April 2005
The Channel Island airline Rockhopper is restoring daily flights between Jersey and Guernsey and Bournemouth. The new service is part of the airline’s new summer timetable which is launched on June 6th. The new timetable restores the service everyday at lunchtime, except on Friday and Sunday evenings when the current popular times are being retained, allowing passengers going in both directions to get away for the weekend.

“We have been flying from Bournemouth to the Channel Islands for four years now so we have shown a very strong commitment to this service”, says Rockhopper’s chief executive Noel Hayes. “For that reason I’m delighted to be able to restore the daily service from Jersey and Guernsey to Bournemouth which is what this popular route needs”.

The daily service leaves Jersey at 11.15 and Guernsey at 11.50. The return flight leaves Bournemouth at 13.00. On Fridays and Sundays flights leave Jersey at 17.40 and Guernsey at 18.15, with the return flight leaving Bournemouth at 19.30. Tickets will cost from £59.50 single, including all taxes and charges.

“We have designed this timetable to make it as convenient as possible for Islanders to get away for a few days to Bournemouth which is a great cosmopolitan city, close to the New Forest National Park”, says Noel. “Also, Thomsonfly have just started flying out of Bournemouth Airport and low cost easy connections are now available to Amsterdam, Belfast, Faro, Gerona, Glasgow, Malaga, Majorca, Paris, Pisa and Valencia”.

“Similarly, with the tourist season just getting started, this timetable should prove very attractive for both residents on the UK south coast hopping across to Jersey or Guernsey for a short break and for visitors from Europe looking for a convenient and low cost route to the islands”.

Flights between Guernsey and Bournemouth will be direct every day, with flights from Jersey connecting through Guernsey, and then onto Bournemouth. Passengers using this Bournemouth service from Jersey won’t have to leave the aircraft in Guernsey.

As a member of staff for i have some information reagarding G-BNMU and the bournemouth service. Aurigny are concidering not to give up the lease on G-BNMU because of a Royal mail contract the company has between LGW and EDI.

As for the bournemouth route aurigny operated that service but had to drop it due to the lack of passengers.

al so with thompson fly rumoured to start jersy bournemouth there would be no point in the compitition.

bournemouth was only busy in the summer but this was to an extent
after checking in numourous flights to bournemouth from jersey you could see the numbers dropping

it was a dead end destination for the airline.
