Hi Peeps,
My poor VHS VCR is on its last legs.
Does anyone have any thoughts about the new fangled DVD HDD recorders?
Things like make, HDD size, DVD+ or DVD-.....
I see some of them have TV guides in them.
Any ideas, comments even sources would be welcome.

I bought a fairly standard Panasonic jobby a little while ago, under £200. Fits the bill nicely.

I have just bought and installed the new Panasonic DMREH50 DVD recorder. It is a really good example of a recorder in my view.
It is advertised at £399.99 but I bought mine for £321.99 a really nice machine. Best you look on the Panasonic site to see what it offers.
Use Google and you will find.
EDIT: Meant to say that it has a 80gb HDD and as we speak I am making my first recording on it.;)

Any thoughts on whether it would be better to go with a DVD HDD recorder or Sky+?
In the UK I have a Sky machine, for here, [Spain], I bought a Sony RDR HX1000
Bought a JVC DRM-H20 (80GB HDD) in the UK in Jan.
First one arrived - damaged - delivered by 'Citylink'. Loose bits inside, front panel loose and most of the polystyrene packing broken. Sent it back.
Second arrived - poly side packing broken again, but machine seemed fine. Ran happily until last month when the software 'seized'. JVC say - known software fault. Sent it back.
Third(!) arrived 10 days ago, apparently undamaged!! So far seems to be working fine.
As long as you can get one undamaged and without a software fault, they are great!

Thanks so far.....
I use Sky but I understand that Sky+ doesn't have a DVD recorder.
Anyone got any views on Philips machines?
Thanks
