When I start up the PC I get an error warning: "system bop 22."

Any idea what this is and what I can do to resolve it?

Cheers

More information needed please......

1) Operating System
2) Specs of the pc etc...
3) Where is the error appearing, on startup in the bios screens, on login, after login, after anything else?
4) Has it started recently? after the addition of some hardware or software?

As clear as mud.. :(

Windows XP - Professional or Home?

Happens on Startup? In the bios screens? When the login box is displayed? Is the error a line of text on a screen or an error box?

Does the error have any effect on the pc? Slowness? Devices not working??

Been a few weeks now? Have you added or removed anything to the pc in the last "few weeks?"??

Microsoft support does not recognise either of the following:
Runtime error 13
System bop 22

Looks more like a virus but as zoink has asked when does it appear, after windows has loaded, before or during?

It appears when the desktops appears just after I switch the PC on.

XP Home

PC is slightly slower.

Nothin installed in the past few weeks.

I think "runtime error 13 - type mismatch" is a visual basic error; i'd guess it's more likely to be a duff application than a virus. Are there any errors listed in the application log (control panel -> administrative tools -> event viewer -> application log and then looks for errors with a timestamp corresponding to boot-up)?

Also, have a look at what is running at startup: Start -> All Programs -> Startup and also Start -> run -> msconfig and look at the Startup tab.
