Hi Everyone,

Here's a question to which I have had a variety of answers.
Can one do an instrument rating and log the time as PI under supervision? Or are you P/ut in this situation. Need to hour build but want to use the time as cleverly as possible. What,if anyone is certain, is the final JAR ruling on this one?

Cheers

I am not 100% sure about this, but I think you can log it as P1 as long as you pass the test.

Do you mean the test itself or the course?

Sorry mis-read that, I was talking about the test itself. The training will be dual.

Every test I have done and a friend of mine is an examiner, every check ride you are PIC. The examiner is only there in a role to observe and ask to perform a manouver or demonstrate.

Therefore you are P1. As far as I am aware that is!

During the training for the IR, you are PU/T. The test can be logged as PICUS if you pass. If you fail, it's PU/T The PICUS can be counted as P1 time for licence issue if the logbook entry is endorsed by the Examiner.
