SAA confirmed that its flights to Accra would continue to Washington under code sharing arrangements with United Airlines, a partner in the Star Alliance, which will carry its passengers on to other US destinations.

This will not affect its code sharing arrangements with US airline Delta on the route from Johannesburg to Atlanta, which will continue for at least two years.

Will SAA enjoy 5th freedom on the ACC-IAD-ACC sector?

SAA flies everywhere it seems...or do they? United Airlines...which will carry its passengers on to other US destinations
..on code shares, alliances, whatevers it seems, etc. When, oh when, will SAA start to bite the bullet and fly a route "in" by themselves and stop using somebody else...just to stuff it up eventually? What about Continental on New Yourk-Accra? Or do I get the impression that most SA black ex-pats are in Washington in the US? Most SA expats (I suppose white expats?) in the US are in NY or do I have it wrong? SAA being PC again...?

Rani, good question. What about the BASA's?
