Birmingham has just recorded their 12th consecutive month of falling passengers figures. Why are passengers deserting them? Have they been sent Tui Coventry?

Duo's collapse started it but MYTlite have really cut back alot of their routes and this has had an effect as well as Thomson fly from CVT. Things will improve as BMIbaby will have 4th aircraft based soon and Flybe have a busy summer schedule, on top of AI 2nd Daily EK..........

Stanby for the launch of monarch at the end of the month. I think they have big expansion plans on the cards for Brum so I'm sure they will fill the whole in the market.

Rumour is that within 3 years BHX will be the largest base for MON.... looking at all the advertisment in the city I don't think it'll last long before pax no at bhx will increase again with 4 scheduled routes startin from end of this month... With the latest rumour of Mytravel Lite packing up in september... more good news for MON.

Last months figures will be the last ones to include the loss of Duo, the reduction of the Ryanair programme ( transfered to NEMA) and the loss of the PIA transit flights to Chicago and toronto ( transferd to Manchester) and the arrival of TUI at Coventry.

The gains for this summer outway the losses even allowing for the reduction of Mytravellite but it will be interesting to see if they exceed summer 2003.

Considering all the new routes mentioned above (BEs 737s also only started on 27th March), and the first year of TOM also having run to 31st March, I really would expect to see BHX back on the up in April.

Meanwhile, CVT had a fantastic March.

Viscount, there are now FIVE baby 737s based at BHX since the start of the summer schedules on 27th March; 3 737-300s and 2 737-500s. They sometimes get swapped with other bases but for the spotters' benefit, those usually with us are G-TOYC, G-OGBE, G-BVZH, GBVKB and G-BYZJ.

It is no doubt that we were hit big time by the loss of DUO. Its also worrying that CVT are doing more passengers to CDG than BHX last month !

An increase by Monarch will be very welcome!

Sometimes it makes me wonder that if we have the infrastructure, the facilities, the location and the expertise, then why are we declining and losing PAX.

Is it Cost ? Is it the way BIA deal with the Airlines? One thing is for certain is that there are PAX out there so why arent we attracting them to BHX ?

Bombay Bad Boy - no wonder there might be more PAX flying to CDG out of CVT than out of BHX; the best price one can get on BA from BHX is £79, while you can get as low as £29.98 from CVT with Thomsonfly... AF is way more expensive than BA Citiexpress and baby has stopped its once-daily EMA-CDG, replaced by a thrice-daily bmi regional EMB-145 flight... at regional prices!

Just did a round trip CGN-BHX-CGN with GermanWings for 40 Euros. Load factors impressive for midweek flights on a new recently opened route. May well hit BA's DUS flights which are way too costly.

Yeah, I know that high loads doesn't mean good yield (especially at 40 Euros), but the signs are good that the demand is there.

Ya better get your notams back out of the bin. Over the last week Brum ATC had a review of their ATIS and consulted the airlines aswell as having a thread on their website.
