Cool 747 video:

747 takeoff (http://home.comcast.net/~aeroman2/takeoff.wmv)

If it won't play right click and save target......

Warning. The video came from a website that may contain highly offensive material. If you are offended easily I would not visit the website in the lower corner of the video. I also would not go there at work.

Stupid places to stand: Number one in an occasional series. :ooh:

I have been under a 727 closer than that.

One thing I think it speaks to is wake turbulence. Doesn't seem to give those people to much tossing. Hmmmmm.....

Not as much as that site then ....................

Interesting to see how erect the aircraft stands on the runway, and then how valiantly it penetrates the air above the watchers. I bet they did get blown by the wake though when it came over them.

ignoring all the other double meanings, the "interesting" aspect to me was just how late it eventually rotated:D

I wonder what the V1 speed and distance was, or if there even was one.

anyone know where it was filmed?

I think it was Bournmouth, but I might be wrong. I saw it just the other week but I can't remember where :(

Funnily enough, I have an ex-Bournemouth Controller sitting next to me, and he tells me that unless the film was pre-1996, it can't be Bournemouth, as 08 has an 800 metre displaced threshold (approx) and is concrete as opposed to asphalt, thus making it a different colour. Also, he's not sure if 747s used EGHH before the extension.

Of course, his memory is almost as beer pickled as mine, so don't quote him on that. However, he's very impressed Mr Clumsy can see the similarities between the clip and EGHH. :ok:

That's right, that site that one ball kept linking too.

This was the first 747 passenger flight from Bournemouth Airport :8

...Then the blind first officer turned to the blind captain and said:

"One day they aren't going to scream. What are we going to do then?"

And the captain replied "It's a good job the #1 engine isn't missing".

Jerricho.... you are a funny man. :E

I particularly enjoyed the little voice that says "Missed!" right at the end of the clip. :D:D:D

"It's a good job the #1 engine isn't missing".

To which the appropriate reply way

"No, it's still there"
